I can barely contain my excitement! I now own BOTH of the Debbie Reynold's auction catalogs! Nearly 1,000 of the most famous cinema costumes and props from Hollywood's Golden Age. She had the largest private collection of Hollywood memorabilia ever. From Judy Garland's ruby slippers to Marilyn Monroe's white subway dress to Charlie Chaplin's bowler hat...Gowns, suits, shoes, acting contracts, motion picture cameras, furniture, jewelry, movie posters, lights, wax heads, and even one of the first Apple II computers...312 pages of amazing eye candy in the first catalog. 224 pages in the second.

I will never get tired of perusing the pages of these catalogs. Full color photos with blurbs and descriptions of each item. Truly incredible! And although i couldn't afford to purchase even one item, I honestly don't think i would even want to. The responsibility that would come with owning such a piece of cinematic history, would be to much for me and my ocd to handle. hahah....and anyway, i kinda feel like i get to own a little piece of EVERY item, with being able to look at them in all of their splendor whenever i want!...Truly one of the best investments i've made to date. I think anyway.

Missoni for Target ~ my shopping extravaganza review

So, I went shopping at Target yesterday to get a look at the new Missoni for Target line!! oh what fun!

i figured there would be a shopping rush bright and early and was slightly dissapointed that i couldn't make it to my nearest Target store until about 4:30 in the afternoon...i was curious to see where this line was manufactured. i figured it wouldn't be Italy and most likely China. (oh, please don't let it be super cheesy garbage!)....well, it turns out most of it is made in China, but i guess that's the only way us poor, peasant americans would be able afford it.

i've always been a big fan of black and white decor, and the mighty zig zag!!...upon entering the store, i was excited to see they still had stuff, but not quite as much stuff as i was hoping for. the handbags and winter scarves and hats were gone. boooo! and i couldn't find anything in the bath section. (i really wanted that black and white zig zag shower curtain!!)...the bath towels and rugs were nowhere to be found, and i'm not even sure if they were ever in stock at my store. maybe different stores get different items, i don't know?

anyone who knows me knows i absolutely love suitcases, luggage, and travel bags. i did see that they had 2 roller suitcases left. i inspected them and came to the conclusion they they were made pretty ok, still i didn't know if i wanted to fork over 169 smacks for it. i decided to think about it for a bit and continue scoping out the rest of the Missoni line. i came back to the luggage rack 20 minutes later to look at them again, and they were GONE!....soooo, shopping TIP #1: if you need a little time to "think" about a purchase first. PUT IT IN YOUR CART and "think" about it while you shop. you can always put it back if you decide you don't need it. but you can't go back and get it if someone else already bought it while you were lolly-gagging!! (DUH - I already know this!)......and i totally forgot to hit the bicycle section to see if they had any of those. i wasn't going to buy one, but i wanted to check it out anyway.

i'm kinda a stickler for quality. i don't buy stuff if i think it's made too cheap or feels super cheesy, and i often get irritated when shopping the malls and retail stores to see such crummy, cheaply made items....so my HONEST opinion on the Missoni for Target line, to those of you who may care.

the cuteness of everything i give an A+. such wonderful patterns, florals, and colors (although i'm not a huge of fan of the browns), and the range of items from clothing, to shoes, to accessories, to kitchen items, to bedroom stuff was pretty fantastic.

now, the quality of the items varied. regrettfully i have to say that a lot of the knit items, i found to be a bit cheap. obviously, they aren't going to be super high quality like the original Missoni line, but if i'm going to drop 50 bucks on a knit dress, i don't want it to fall apart or get pilly the first time i wash it that's just me though. the ballet flats could have been better too...most of the other items i thought were definietly "Target Quality"...(better than Walmart, but not as nice as Macy's)...all in all, i liked just about all of it, and bought a lot of it too! but i bought only the items that i thought were good quality, the cheesy stuff, i left behind, no matter how cute i thought it was.....see the pic of all my loot!!!

a couple minutes after updating my Wardrobe the Globe Facebook Page today. it was reported on the news that the Missoni debut was so successful that stores are Sold Out everywhere and that the Target website was so busy that it crashed. true story, i tried to get on target.com a few times yesterday and they wouldn't let me in! pretty crazy!....well, so now that the rush is over and my excitement and curiosity has been satisfied. i may go ahead and SELL all of the fabulous treasures i just purchased. you're gonna want to keep on eye on that, because i'm going to list it all as ONE LOT in my ebay store! 26 fabulous Missoni for Target items! something for everyone, and yes, it will be expensive...you're welcome!!

Looking forward to ABC's new series PAN AM

I don't usually get this excited about new shows airing, but i sure am this Fall! From the previews, it looks like ABC's new series PAN AM is going to be spectacular! As a long time collector of vintage clothing, accessories, and home decor; I really look forward to seeing what the wardrobe and set decorators do. I'm sure the story lines and characters will be great too. Christina Ricci - fabulous!

I'm a big fan of the show Mad Men and the genius behind the writers, wardrobe, and designers. I often have to watch episodes twice. The first time paying close attention to what the cast is wearing and scanning the backgrounds for those neat vintage items. A lot of which i actually own! "oh my gosh, we have that exact lamp! we have that red rocking horse named Rudy! we have those same drinking glasses in the cabinet! I have the same pin Joan is wearing!"...tooo fun! The second time I watch, I actually pay attention to the story.

I'm sure it's going to be the same for PAN AM. 1963 was such a great year for fashion. It's one of my favorite eras (although it was long before i was ever born). Everyone dressed with such class and was so put together. People actually dressed up to travel, and even to go to the market! Can you imagine people doing that these days? I mean, some people still do, but it's few and far between. Do you know how many people i see shopping at walmart in their pajamas??! It's more than 5 I'll tell you that!...*GASP* that would have never happened in the 60s.

Anyone who knows me, knows that i collect vintage luggage. And although i have quite a large collection, I do not own a blue PAN AM carry on bag. I know, I can't believe it either! Somebody send me one! I predict that the already hefty prices of these travel bags will go up quite a bit after the show premier. Better get one now!

I'm super glad this show is on network television and i don't have to be a cable subscriber to watch it! yay! Sooooo September 25th, I will be waiting for you with great anticipation!

i love buying old magazines and scoop them up whenever i can find them. this week i was lucky enough to find a Novemeber 1954 issue of the Saturday Evening Post. it was missing the cover, which would deter most collectors, but not me! for a dollar? SOLD!...there's still tons of great photos, ads, and cute stories....i was delighted to find this 1955 Chrysler Corporation ad featuring 7 of the top fashion designers of the day. Tom Brigance, Anne Fogarty, Clare Potter, Lily Dache', Nettie Rosenstein, Pauline Trigere and Claire McCardell...all dressed to the nines of course......(now if i could just find an actual Pauline Trigere dress. that would make my day!)

i'm writing my first blog on blogger/ blogspot. nothing special. just checkin it out to see how it works. i've goofed around with my layout long enough. it's not exactly how i'd like it to look, but it's just a darn blog page. i suppose it doesn't have to be perfect.

so down here i will try to post a picture.

ok i guess it went over to the side, and it's probably a little too big for my taste but whatev.

spose i'll change my font and see what that looks like. what, no helvetica? oh well, verdana works.

ok well i reckon that's gonna do it for tonight. nuttin fancy just playin around....over and out!
